Bitdefender tackles AI-written scams from two sides. Scamio is a free chatbot: ask it about a suspicious message, website or email and it looks for signs of phishing, fraud and social engineering. Scam Protection Pro, which Bitdefender calls AI-powered, covers email, chat, texts and the web. Total Security includes a password manager and data breach detection that flags logins exposed in a leak. Premium Security adds a VPN with unlimited traffic. It fits a household that wants one plan across several devices, or anyone who wants a free second opinion before clicking. The downside: every listed price is a first-year price, shown next to a much higher struck-through figure, and US prices exclude sales tax.

On the Total Security Individual (first year) plan, Bitdefender costs $5 a month or $59.99 a year. A free version exists too. Premium Security Individual (first year), the highest plan listed here, comes to $79.99 a year. Read on the provider’s pricing page on September 22, 2026; a monthly subscription can cost more than the yearly rate.

Is Bitdefender Scamio really free?
Yes. Scamio is a free AI chatbot from Bitdefender that looks at messages, websites and emails and tells you whether they show signs of phishing, fraud or social engineering. You do not need a paid Total Security or Premium Security plan to use it. Treat its answer as a second opinion, not a guarantee, and confirm any request for money through a phone number you already trust.
Does Bitdefender use what I type into Scamio to train its AI?
Bitdefender does not say. The Scamio page only points to its general privacy policy and gives no details on model training, an opt-out, how long chats are kept or where the servers are. Until that is spelled out, remove account numbers, passwords and ID details before you show Scamio a suspicious message.
What does Bitdefender cost after the first year?
The listed prices apply to the first year only. Beside each one, the pricing page shows a higher struck-through price, which is the likeliest renewal figure, although Bitdefender does not label it that way. US prices also exclude sales tax. Look at your account a few weeks before the renewal date and decide then whether to keep the plan.
