Is Bitdefender Scamio free?

Scamio is a chatbot, not a program you install. Bitdefender says it works on the web and in WhatsApp, Messenger or Discord. You send a message or a screenshot and get an answer in seconds.

One step is easy to miss. The Scamio page says you first sign in or create a Bitdefender account. That account costs nothing. Bitdefender also calls Scamio a chatbot in an early access phase.

Scamio only judges what you hand it. The privacy policy for home users says it cannot monitor or scan a device. So a scam text you never show it stays unseen. That is what the paid layer adds.

Scam Protection Pro is that paid layer. It adds email protection and Scamio Pro and also covers Windows and macOS. Bitdefender sells it from Premium Security, at $79.99 for the first year plus sales tax. Beside that amount the pricing page shows $129.99 struck through.

What you type stays out of the training data. Bitdefender says Scamio has not used personal data to train its AI. The privacy policy keeps chat data for at most two months. Use Scamio inside WhatsApp or Messenger and that app can read along.
