The site says two different things about the price. The Scam Guard page says the feature is integrated in Malwarebytes Premium Security. The menu above it files Scam Guard under free scam and ad blockers. Further down the page it is called "our free scam detector built and operated by Malwarebytes".
The pricing page never names Scam Guard at all. It shows three plans for one household. Standard costs $59.99 a year for three devices. Plus costs $79.99 and adds a VPN plus data breach alerts.
Ultimate is the top plan at $139.99 for the first year. That is half price, without an end date for the offer. The listed renewal is $279.99 a year. Put a reminder in your calendar before that date arrives.
Scam Guard itself is a chat inside the app. You share a number, a message or a screenshot. It answers in seconds and suggests what to do next. It sees nothing that you do not hand over.
What you send does leave a trace. Malwarebytes says queries are stored locally for 30 days. Reported scams go into its database to protect other users. The brand also warns that features vary by plan and operating system.
Paying is not the only route. Browser Guard from Malwarebytes is free and blocks scam pages, ads and trackers. Bitdefender Scamio is a free chatbot that judges a message you paste into it. Try those first, then buy Standard when you want the antivirus behind it.
