Surfshark One is the better buy for most people who want protection against AI-polished scams and leaked personal data. One subscription brings antivirus, scam checks for texts and email, Alert warnings when your details, card numbers or ID appear in a breach, and Alternative ID, which creates a masked email address for sign-ups.
Over the 27-month first term it costs €2.79 a month, against €4.49 for NordVPN Complete, the Nord plan with anti-malware and email protection. Pick NordVPN if scam calls are your main concern: Complete flags likely scam calls before you answer, while Surfshark lists call protection as coming soon.
NordVPN also publishes its renewal price; Surfshark's pricing page does not.

NordVPN states that Complete renews at €219.48 a year, while Surfshark's pricing page shows no renewal price at all.
Does NordVPN include antivirus like Surfshark One?
Partly. NordVPN Complete and Ultimate Max include anti-malware that blocks malware and harmful websites, which Nord says runs on next-gen antivirus. Basic leaves it out. Surfshark One describes a fuller scanner, with scheduled scans, real-time protection and webcam protection. If you want your laptop scanned for malware, Surfshark One covers more; if you mostly want dangerous sites blocked while you browse, either will do.
Do Surfshark One or NordVPN block scam calls?
NordVPN does, from the Complete plan up. Its call protection flags likely scam and spam calls before you pick up. Surfshark lists scam call protection as coming soon, so it is not part of the subscription yet. Whichever you choose, treat an urgent money request from a familiar voice with care: hang up and ring back on a number you already have.
Which one alerts me when my data leaks?
Both, but they watch different things. Surfshark's Alert looks for your personal details, credit cards and ID in data breaches. NordVPN's Dark Web Monitor, in every plan, watches your email address; the Pro version in Complete and Ultimate Max adds phone, card and ID numbers. Surfshark's identity theft coverage applies to US residents only, excluding New York, and Ultimate Max adds reimbursement for identity theft and scam losses.
